Why am I blogging?

My daughter's smile is the lovely one you see above! I love to see people smile! Maybe that is why ...I like to capture smiles or snapshots of things that make others smile with my camera. I know we can't go through every minute of life with a smile but I hope that even when life is hard we can have a peace that others will notice and desire. My blog initially started as a way to honor my mom and her great outlook on life. She died in May 2010 from cancer. I don't think I can ever due justice to her life but I hope I can live my life in a way that would make her proud. The one other great privilege I have had is to be Carol Hensley Singletary's mother. She was our only child and she died suddenly on Feb .27, 2013. She was 19 years old. Her zest for life, her smile and her loving personna is missed by many, but none more than by her husband of just 6 months, Cooper. We carry on by grace and faith in God, and will look for any means to smile while we are left here on this earth for some reason by God. What I would give just to see the beautiful smile of my mom and daughter again! I know without a doubt I will someday, but until then I am going to try and praise my God and King in the life's good days and through life's pains. And i'm sharing here ...in hopes that you will smile with me. judy!

Finding Spirit of the Season is harder these days...

I'm sitting here having just enjoyed a visit from a fellow Parkinson's patient who lives in Washington State.  Heaven knows I needed the 'pick-me-up' that visit provided as I was struggling emotionally of late for several reasons.

And now here is Christmas upon us with more physical, emotional, mental and financial stress that can become overwhelming and draining on some.  I have several friends and family who are really experiencing things this season that make it hard to uncover the joy that should be experienced by those who believe in the birth of a Savior as the meaning of Christmas.

I'd like to ask you to take time to pause and intentionally find the joy of this season and to share it with someone struggling.  And if you believe in the power of prayer, use it for yourself and those whose lives mean much to you.  And know that if you ever feel alone or worried and just need someone to send a note to or to talk to, I don't mind listening.  I can't be too sure about what kind of advise I give, but I know who to ask to help any of us find the way when things get a little crazy, and that is Jesus.

So as I close this blog, I'd like to offer a prayer for all of us, and I hope you will join me in celebrating the Joy Love and Peace that can be found in this holiday season:
  Dear God,
This might be kind of strange ,a prayer on a blog, but for some reason I think I need to.  I need to ask you to help me find the joy in Christmas again.  Help each person who reads the words here to have a wondrous holiday season with friends and family.  And God, help us to all reach out and to show those whose hopes have been dashed for one reason or another this year that we care.  Help us  be a light that will provide a comforting glow at a time when things seem terribly dark in a life.  Thank you God for sending the gift of your perfect Son who ultimately has paid our sin debt and allows fellowship with you.  That among anything else in this world gives me hope and i thank you for so many blessings you have put in my life.  AMEN judy

May I brag about Someone on my blog?

If you have objected to my question in my title, SORRY!   I decided I will brag on so read on...it won't be too bad.  Actually my other purpose for the blog today is to see how well I do putting pictures on here.

Our family had a major significant event occur this year...it was big.  Scratch that --there were 3 major events.  All involved our only child, Carol. Not to be too braggy I will try and briefly describe them and let you see some of the events through picstures.

1.  Our daughter Carol was a senior at Tri Cities Christian School and was playing in her last basketball games since she had decided to forgo sports in college.  She has played basketball since 3rd grade.   She went out on top.  She and her team of the Lady Eagles won their second state conference championship for the second year in  a row!  Her whole starting team was named to the all-tournament team and Carol took home MVP honors for the second time!   And in three year she scored over 1000 points in games against TCCS --she also started every game in those three years.  This happened in late Feb. 2012

2.  Carol graduated with honors and was the recipient of the Christian Leadership award for her class!  She is gonna kill me if she reads this but Baby ! your momma is proud of you! Way to go class of 2012 TCCS!

3.  A few days before July 4th, Carol's boyfriend of 3 + years came over and had a long discussion with us ...yep he wanted to marry our  baby!   I am thinking ..."OK this will take a year or so to come about.  Everything is cool. "  We love Cooper and are so glad that they had thought and prayed about this decision.   Then he told us that they wanted to be married in August this year and move to Gatlinburg where they would start a business.   Can you say "OH MY GOODNESS!"  ????  I don't know how they pulled it off but they did.   Married on August 18, 2012, went on a 4 day cruise, moved in 2 days, Carol  started school a few days later, and on Labor day weekend 2012, Cooper opened "MyPhone Accessories" in Gatlinburg TN.

Enjoy the pics and I'll sit here as proud as can be of Carol and Cooper Singletary.   Our kids who have started their own life adventure.  I know they will do the best at it.  And maybe in a couple of years, they will decide to take on the greatest job  we can have in this life ..to be parents.  And they will  have a cute little red headed baby that will most undoubtably be the most beautiful baby ever born, because it will be my grandbaby!  I CAN wait, but just be ready for MAJOR braggin' then!

Carol is 22
